Best Kitchens for Sale in Loudoun County!

The kitchen is the heart of the home. But for those of us who truly love to cook and share food, the kitchen is even more. The kitchen is an artisan's workshop, highly customized to simplify complex tasks with room for all the tools, appliances and ingredients we need for any dish, any setting. So, this spotlight is dedicated to Loudoun Homes with Gourmet Kitchens!

In this weekly feature, I am showcasing the finest kitchens in Loudoun County and calling out the features that TRULY earn the label of "gourmet kitchen".

34627 Atoka Chase Lane, Middleburg, VA 20117

Offered for $4,250,000, this isn't a property for the first time homebuyer - here's what I like....

Now this is an open floor plan! The kitchen leads to directly into a cozy social area, warmed by a gorgeous stone fireplace.

I absolutely love the decorative but very functional custom zinc hood above the wolf stove/oven. Where some may inconveniently cram a microwave, this space has been preserved and two pot fillers are smartly installed to enable the home chef to get pasta water ready with as few steps as possible! There are two dishwashers in this kitchen plus a sub-zero commercial refrigerator and what I really like are the large windows which fill the room with light and make this intimate space seem even larger. Finally, there is an informal area outside for grilling in all four seasons - and I can definitely envision drinking coffee or sipping bourbon (depending on the time of day!) while watching whatever may exist on the other side of the fence pass by!

35428 Appalachian Trail Road, Round Hill, VA 20141

Offered for $2,399,999, this is an historic property with mid-1700's origins, listed by one of my Hunt Country Sotheby's International Realty colleagues, Lisa Thompson.

I absolutely LOVE the pomegranate-hued cabinets in this property! When so many people seem to be painting their kitchen cabinets white, its nice to see a kitchen that has existed for 200+ years with some great colors and texture!

This kitchen boasts a commercial grade stove/cooktop with hood, features a lovely (and large!) kitchen island (notice the custom wood top on that island versus a stone product), and includes both recessed lighting and tasteful chandeliers to add plenty of light for cooks and guests, alike! I love the exposed stone WALL in the kitchen, and the adjacent dining room with stone FIREPLACE is truly a wonderful talking piece!

42867 Beaver Crossing Square, Ashburn, VA 20148

This is the most *affordable* gourmet kitchen I found & liked this week, offered for $985,000 in the 55+ award winning community "Birchwood at Brambleton".

As a tall person, I really appreciate the use of space ALL THE WAY TO THE CEILING (thank you!!!). Cabinets displaying beautiful plates with windows are so much better than space between the cabinets and ceiling that gathers dust and/or grease from cooking.

Of the three kitchens featured week, this is the most neutrally decorated. Kudos to the owners and builder (Miller & Smith) for the tasteful hood above the GAS cooktop (note: many 55+ communities don't offer gas cooking!!!). The "wow" factor for me is the very large and elegant kitchen island, contemporary lighting and beautiful chandeliers. Makes me *almost* wish I was 55+ so I could move to this home (which offers a primary bedroom/bath on the main level - so there are very few steps one needs to make in between dinner and bedtime!!!)
