Does an Epoxy Garage Floor Add Value?

Updated: Jun 10

Does an Epoxy Garage Floor Add Value? One of the best ways to add value to your home is to improve your garage!!! When you come home from a long day, it's often the first part of your house you see. If you have a beautifully landscaped lawn, do you want to go through a trashy garage to get to your beautiful home interior? The answer is NO. It adds amazing home appeal to potential buyers, helps keep your garage cleaner, looks great, and isn't super expensive!!!

This week we had out Castle Floor Epoxy. While you CAN do this project yourself, it is NOT easy. And quite often, DIY jobs end up having to be redone be a professional just one or two years later if done wrong. The ROI from this project is almost immediate and if you are considering selling your home, you are almost guaranteed to recover your investment on this one.

It helps if you have do a little prep work yourself. You want your garage as empty as possible. Castle Floor actually has industrial strength vacuum cleaner and it does an amazing job of getting EVERYTHING out. You don't want stray dust bunnies permanently epoxied to your garage floor!

Assuming no major issues with your concrete, the next step is to get a really good grind on the existing concrete for the epoxy to stick to. It's a big industrial grinder with diamond tooling on the bottom!

Then it's time to put on the base coat of epoxy. Depending on your color choice of flakes they will use a different color base coat to make it look it's best.

the flakes!

The next day they'll scrape up the extra flakes, and then put a clear coat of poly aspartic which is very thick and gets super hard to protect the floor.

On a warm summer day, you only have to wait about 24 hours (we did 48 to be safe) and you're ready to park your cars on it! One great feature is that the epoxy helps insulate the garage and it's actually warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer! And it also absorbs sounds!

So, Does Epoxy Garage Floor Add Value? It's a definite YES YES YES!
